Since the "typical" American doesn't get nearly enough of her or his nutrients from fruit and veggies, this is often a big help in getting healthier.Veggies and fruits are loaded with vitamins, minerals and co-enzymes that just can't be duplicated in manmade vitamin pills. They are also a great source of fiber. The problem is,many of the fruits and veggies available today in supermarkets have been genetically modified and are no longer the "perfect" foods as nature intended them to be.Also, they are coated with pesticides that are highly toxic. You can wash some of that off-but there will still be a residue. One soulution to this dilemma was to spend the extra money on buying Organic-and this has been proven to reduce the levels of toxins in the body, but our corporate lobby bullied government has now weakened the laws as to just what can be labeled "organic"-more proof of just where their "values" are.(hint: NOT for the "common good" at all). The good news is that people and organic farmers are fighting this, and eating more fruits and veggies is STILL an improvement over eating too much meat.
