Taking out her value-laden words, this statement says, "It is the result of sexual conduct." Ultimately, this is true, since that's both the initial and the major cause of AIDS. It's the blame aspect that gets us ("just retribution"). Thank God that in American society, blame and punishment is determined by lawful human authorities.
There is another side to this issue though. If there is a "higher authority," isn't it mainly to help bring relief to human suffering? Don't think for a moment that Mama T. would have witheld that relief no matter how sinful the victims. I wonder whether our great, conservative Protestant leaders would be there beside her in that effort.
