I see Bush now as a kind of sad and pathetic figure. He was woefully in over his head as commander in chief, a position he should never have held for even one term, let alone two. He has left the country in shambles. Bush likes to say that history will look favorably on his presidency. If so, he will certainly have to wait until all of us who remember living through the past eight years of his failures are long dead.
