John Wooden

John Wooden is one of only two people elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame as a player(1961) and coach(1973). John Wooden coached Indiana State(1946-48) before becoming head coach at UCLA where his greatest success was achieved. His career coaching record is 667-161(.806). His resume includes 4 seasons with teams that finished 30-0 and 7 straight national championships(1966-73). His UCLA teams won 10 national championships in all. At Pauley Pavilion his teams were an outstanding 149-2(.987).

Probably the best college hoops coach ever. 10 championships. 10!!! To all you people who say it was all thanks to Alcindor and Walton, he won 5 championships without them, still beating 2nd place Coach (Co)Rupp(t) of Kentucky by 1 championship. Some people claim payoffs, but there has still not been one shred of evidence in that direction. Even if there was scandal, it takes more than the best players to win, as shown by Duke, the Yankees, and other teams who consistently don't live up to their billing. John Wooden was the ultimate teacher and coach, 'Nuff Said.
