Are we talking about the old Strom Thurmond who displayed his white robes proudly or the "kinder, gentler" Strom of later years who kept his robes in a suitcase under the bed? I doubt that the later Strom would have had the nads to say how he REALLY felt in a debate. Either way (as everyone else points out) he was not MLK's intellectual or moral equal. Advantage King.
