Very funny guy. Colbert uses deadpan humor very well, especially when skewering either the press, the president (the "decider") or other various sacred cows. He speaks truth to power in a very subversive way. Witness his recent performance at the White House Correspondents Dinner, where he really turned up the heat on the Washington establishment. Some of them found Colbert "disrespectful", primarily for pointing out that the media would rather go along to get along rather than report the facts. He turned up the heat on all of them: the groveling media, congressmen, pay-to-play lobbyists, overly ambitious congressional staffers, and money and attention-hungry media consultants--all of whom are addicted to the trappings of political power.

Here's probably the most memorable part of his performance last week: " let's review the rules. Here's how it works: The president makes the decisions; he's the decider. The press secretary announces those decisions, and you people, the press, type those decisions down. Make, announce, check. Just put 'em through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kickin' around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration? You know: fiction!"

I wonder what the big "Decider" thought about Colbert's performance
