I switched to Yahoo! after bad experiences with iName (now Mail.com) and Hotmail. I have now been using it for about six years and it has been excellent. It doesn't lose messages, it doesn't show them to random others, like the other services. The new interface is slightly slower because it uses Java, but the good side is that messages now arrive in real time so you don't have to hit the reload button to see them. The spam filter is fast and roughly 90% accurate (it occasionally puts important emails in the spam bin, but it is worth that price to have the main area cleared of masses of spam). Messages are properly displayed in HTML and all downloads are virus checked. I will try gmail as well because I like Google's other products and it is good to have a spare secure email service to be on the safe side, but I intend to stick with Yahoo! and keep paying for the Mail Plus premium service to keep away the pop-up adverts and guarantee massive storage space so I don't have to waste time deleting old emails.
