Another ultimate board game for early teenage boys (and their fathers as another reviewer noted), I remember Stratego as fun and well worth the time back in the day. Though the number of players is limited to two (as opposed to Risk or instance), the game appealed to my youth with soldiers, conquest, and strategy. (As noted in prior comments, the initial setup can often dictate the outcome.) The game is also similar to Chess since there is nothing really left to chance (i.e. no dice). The bottom line is that Stratego is another strong military based board game originating from the French (in its modern form at least). (For those interested in such things, the game was developed a few years prior to World War I.)
