To his credit, inventor of the fretless bass, right? He had a unique style. Bill Wyman writes in his autobiography that although he acknowledged fellow rock bassists of his time, such as John Entwhistle (usually recognized as the best of his time) he never agreed with their style. They were too active--to Mr. Wyman, the bass is always the backbone of the band, always present but never sticking out. This is the reason, I believe, that I have never listened to a Stones song and said to myself "Bill Wyman is astounding!" He has no desire to be astounding in any way beyond the role of his instrument, and I respect his dedication to this philosophy. So, in the context of this UK supergroup, his bandmates would have to acknowledge his style. He also believes, according to his autobiography, that the bassist must be concerned with the overall sound of the band. Wyman (and the other members who weren't Mick or Keith) essentially co-wrote and co-produced many of the Stones great songs without ever getting credit. He wrote the riff to "Jumpin' Jack Flash." If I were rock and roll enough to have a rock and roll band, I think Bill Wyman would be my top choice for bassist, because he has made great things happen. His personality intrigues me as well--he remembers everything (he was the only Rolling Stone to keep a journal throughout their tours, I believe) and he got as many women as Brian Jones during the early years, whilst being married :/
