Add "Expand All" Option For Reviews (DONE)

reviewed by VirileVagabond

Currently one must expand each longer review to see the entire comment. UPDATE: We've taken the feedback and reverted back to the full review display.

Add "Expand All" Option For Reviews (DONE) 5

Let me start by unequivocally stating in no uncertain terms that I detest the current format in how reviews are listed under each item, namely reviews are now shown truncated so that we must not separately click each one to read most of them. Prior to the change, I could simply click view all and read each review that grabbed my attention (Staring with the oldest). Moreover, at a glance I could tell whether I had already read the comment and marked as helpful, and the shorter reviews that need no expansion currently can't even be marked as helpful (though I suppose that this is a bug). While I can see why RIA has removed the "unhelpful" option from this screen (as that had been considered for some time), this overall change has resulted in my reading far less reviews. The bottom line is that this "enhancement" actually degrades the utility of RIA and should be addressed as soon as possible.

V V.... Well said and I could not agree with you more. However, it has been my experience that you shouldn't hold your breath waiting for a change. RIA management seems to feel that if, in their opinion, something is an improvement, it stays....... regardless of any feedback even from established veteran reviewers such as yourself. I am still waiting for the lost quotation marks to be restored and I loathe the fact that I cannot repost any comment for any reason without losing the helpful and unhelpful votes associated with that review. I have voiced my opinion quite strongly both in comments and in private correspondence with RIA management and even though others agree with me and have stated so publicly, there has been no change and at this point I do I expect for there to be any. The quality of the site has gone downhill in my opinion, compared to this time last year. We are flooded with nonsensical weblists and have begun to attract participants who use chat room speech and ghetto associated words. The number of daily comments from "the old RIA regulars" such as myself, Castlebee, Irishgit, IJR, and others have decreased dramatically and yet no one in management considers it alarming, lest they have to admit that perhaps not all change is good. Speaking for myself, I have begun leaving some reviews again because it's something to do, but it is no longer the labor of love that it once was.

Correction. The sentence should have read "there has been no change and at this point I do not expect for there to be any."

Guys, thanks for the feedback. We are WAY behind in development, and have very limited funds. VV, I admit it's annoying to have to click multipe times to do what you could do before with one click. But I want to wait until all of the other functionality associated with the url per review is launched before making any judgments. Flick, I understand you want to repost some reviews but don't want to lose the helpful votes. However, you have to admit that there are pluses and minuses with each alternative. Do you remember the reposting madness that happened before when helpful votes were retained? People would submit their reviews 5 times just to pad their helpful votes.
