Though obviously a crossover decade television series, "Taxi" has its roots in the 70's. James L. Brooks was one of the show's creators, and the similarities between this show and his later work on "Cheers" is evident. In my opinion, the characters that made this series a success were obviously Alex Reiger (Judd Hirsch), Louis DePalma (Danny DeVito), and Jim Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd), as I've never gotten into Andy Kaufman or the other co-stars of the show. Nevertheless, the life situations explored and representations of the human condition made by the screenwriters were spot on, even though tempered with humor. The bottom line is that while other series may have been slightly better, "Taxi" deserves no less than four stars.
