a comment to end all debates...the greatest race horse of all time...Phar Lap...end of story...PERIOD!!! his domination resulted in the rules being changed to prevent his dominance. No other horse can boast this...none!...in 1931 there was an attempt to end his dominance when a mob hit was unsuccessful, they tried to shoot the horse to prevent it from winning one of the oldest and greatest handicap races in the world, the Melbourne Cup in the year 1931...he was taken to a safe locating in hiding to prevent harm to him...he arrived late for the race and the race was delayed until he arrived...in its 120+ year history of this race..it has never been delayed because a horse rocked up late...Phar Lap ended up winning the race...it got to the point where the authorities changed the rules because of him...in the end he was forced to go to America for the richest race in history (at that time)...Phar Lap won in record time...and then he was dead...speculation that he was poisoned by the mob because they lost a fortune on the race...this week tests in America confirmed that he was in fact poisoned by arsnic...in the end..he was a horse that was too good for his time...and he paid for hit with his life...and yes the 2 other great horses of all time are Secretariat & Man O War are mentioned from time to time...but again...the greatest horse of all time...Phar Lap!...he has been imortalised by the film "Phar Lap"
