Intelligent Design--Is the theory of Intelligent Design based on the Bible? 1

I think it's a creative attempt to insert religion into science class. But the fact that it was developed by a lawyer - and not a scientist - would seem to disqualify it from being treated as science.

Or am I missing something?

enlighten me guys... don't just give me unhelpfuls. explain to me why something that didn't come from science should be treated as science.

my only point is that stuff that is not science should not be treated as science. intelligent design is an attempt to find a scientific justification for one particular faith, is it not? call me lazy all you want... but i see no basis for teaching ID in science class, just as i see no basis for teaching algebra in music class.

nah, no fear here. alls i'm saying is that one is science (which should be taught in science class), and one is faith (which should be taught in religion class). No judgments, no fear, no rejection.

nah, i'm not saying anything about absolute truths. i'm just saying one is science (put forth by a scientist via scientific methods and vetted, prodded, and challenged by the scientific community), and one is not.

i guess... but it seems like a cop out :) i know that you work in the medical field... so you must accept that there does exist protocols and process by which medical / scientific research is conducted and vetted. what i can't understand is how you can tell me with a straight face that ID falls within that realm. i'm not questioning that you believe ID. I'm not even questioning that it's true. All I am saying that it does not qualify as science. Can you at least give me that? :)

In your field of medicine, do you use any treatments devised by lawyers? How about prescribe medicines formulated by politicians? Just because I say I'm a doctor, and use lots of words that doctors use, does not make me a doctor. I'll let it go now... I bet that in your heart as a practicer of medicine you know that there is a reason that science uses strictly defined protocols and practices. That allowing anybody to come in and practice medicine who does not follow those protocols would be irresponsible (and probably illegal). But I also understand that you have a larger agenda to push, and that you're not going to budge. I'll let it go now... but I can tell you this - when I have kids, I'm not going to let it go. You're welcome to believe anything you want, and worship any way you feel - but if you start pushing your faith on my kids, we're going to have a problem.
