A well-intentioned King who was cruelly treated by those he loved and trusted most. He believed in religious toleration for ALL his subjects, yet the "establishment" used the fear over catholicism as a "reason" for committing treason and "inviting" a foreign force to invade their own country!
He was centuries ahead of his time. He apparently even made a speech in which he mentioned that racial intolerance was just as unfair as religious, yet for centuries has been treated with contempt by too many so-called historians.
