Qwest DSL

Qwest sucks major ass! The affirmative action hire they sent to set up DSL left a notice on our door that the DSL line was set up. A workman fixing the deck before I moved in told me the installer drove up, placed the notice on the door and left. Tech support told me there was no DSL signal on my line. Several days later a white man came out and connected the DSL. He admitted the previous person didnt do the job. Connecting to the Internet was a major hassle. I had to cable the modem directly to one of my Macs to make the initial connection to their server, even though my Macs could see the modem. When I removed the cable, the wireless connection didnt work! They claimed the wireless modem couldnt connect wirelessly with a Mac computer. I asked if the connection would work if I plugged the allegedly wireless modem into my Airport base station. They said they didnt know but give it a try. I connected the wireless modem to the wireless Airport base station with an Ethernet cable and my computers were able to connect to the Internet. It should not have been necessary for me to connect the piece of shit wireless modem I bought from them to a wireless router! They double billed me for Internet connection. There is a constant hum on the phone line that makes conversations difficult. The phone line filters they provide to remove Internet noise dont help. I also get satellite TV through them. They do not carry any French programming, and they dont carry the major Italian TV networks; they did helpfully inform me that they carried a number of Mandarin channels. I cant imagine why they would suggest Mandarin TV as a possible substitute for French and Italian TV. A windstorm moved the dish and knocked out my TV service for several days. I just moved to a fairly remote area, so my options are limited. My neighbors tell me that a new cable company is setting up, so I soon may be able to use my old non-wireless cable modem with my wireless router for internet and get my TV and phone service from a different provider.
