Good starting point for a lever gun. skip mounting a scope and install a rear peep sight and a "fibre optic" front sight, like a williams fire sight or a tru glow. if you don't need the front sight hood, chuck it! That will make that front sight you just installed look like a laser beam. (super fast acquistion). If you just have to have a hood, go to an open top hood from marlin. You'll find them on their 22's. And unless you hand is smaller than a five year old's, replace the lever with a bigger loop from somewhere like Brownells. It's a good hunting gun and plenty accurate, but loud at the range when your sighting in or working up a load. So bring your ear plugs!
