Bill Purvis 5

I'm glad to hear he was approachable. We heard that from a couple in our church who told us to watch him because they met him and found him plain spoken yet encouraging. Their story was that he preached at their church and returned the honorium privately as a gift to their church building fund. Her husband was the treasurer and said that was a first. My husband and I just started watching him and we like the way he preaches the Bible, verse by verse & book by book. What I like is that he preaches without shouting. My husband likes that is a masculine preacher with a courtesy. He says there are enough "weak" preachers already. I say there are enough "ranting" preachers, so this is one we can both listen to. We both understand scripture better after watching his program and that's what I think we need more of. I give him a 5.

I am Glad some of you enjoy listening to Bill Speak, and I would agree with you. He is an excellent speaker. However, you will realize if you listen long enough you will start hearing the same things over and over again. In addition he tells a great deal of false hoods from the stage. From simple stretches of the truth like; "welcome to our third packed service", to major falsehoods like his assertion that he came to Cascade Hills for no salary. I dont know what defines a packed service but I think we can agree that half capacity does not fall under that definition. When he stands up and says in the 11 AM service welcome to our third packed service and the 8:30 service was less than half capacity and the Saturday night service was half or less...this is not the truth. Also, if you speak with the original group of members that invited him to be the pastor of Cascade Hills Baptist Church over twenty years ago, you will find that his statement of coming for no salary is far from the truth. Those original members will confirm that not only did he come for a salary; it was a decent salary and included a number of other benefits including a home to live in. To quote a famous preacher, How many lies does it take to make you a liar? Just one The sad part is so many of the exaggerations that are told are not even necessary. People would love him anyway. He has grown a great church and is worthy of a great salary, I dont think anyone would care if they found out he made $200,000 or more a year. They might care however if they had any idea he was having over 20,000 a month put in his retirement account. They might also care if they knew what his housing and car allowances were. Bill says often from the stage that you can call and ask how much he gave as a tithe last year and I suspect you can. Don't however ask anything else about the finances, or you might find yourself in a meeting with the Treasurer/Secretary of the corporation known as Cascade Hills Baptist Church being told the finances of this church are "none of your business". In fact, even if you are the staff comptroller and you ask the wrong question about finances, you might find yourself out on the street with no job and having just had to sign a "non discloser" agreeing not to talk about your situation or otherwise you will be sued. Dont forget, it was Judas that was in charge of the money as Jesus and his disciple traveled. The Bible also tells us that Gods word will not return void. Therefore, as long as Robert Tilton, Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Baker or Bill Purvis are preaching from the word of GOD there will be results. Results alone do not a man of God make. You may ask; can these assertions be proved? All of them can, although there are a number of former members who would have to violate a non discloser agreement to prove them. Let me ask the more important question Can any of them be disproved? You have to wonder though Did Jesus have his disciples sign non discloser agreements before the ascension? Then again I doubt Jesus had anything to hide. If you are looking for a place to go and hear a feel good message from a great speaker that allows you to check the yes I have been to church this week box This is the place for you.
