Stevie Ray Vaughan

ItemImage

From Wikipedia: "Stephen "Stevie" Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) was an American blues-rock guitarist, whose broad appeal made him an influential electric blues guitarist.[1] Known for his warm blues rock tone, Vaughan characteristically used very heavy strings on his guitar ranging from 13 to 56-gauge sets to give a fuller sound which he tuned down a half-step to the key of E flat. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Stevie Ray Vaughan #7 in their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,[2] and Classic Rock Magazine ranked him #3 in their list of the 100 Wildest Guitar Heroes in 2007."

Half of you need to get your facts straight, stevie died in a helicopter crash, he was free of drugs and alcohol 3-4 years before his tragic death losers. I'll agree his studio songs may not seem that impressive (although they are to me), but watch him play live and thats where his greatness is, everything he played was from his heart and soul, nothing he played can be found in books or tabled, the man was just a legend and all round great guy - put it this way you don't have a statue put of yourself in the middle of austin, texas if you haven't done something right.

Just watch his live performance of texas flood from the el mocambo or his version of voodoo chile (slight return) and even the harshest crtitics will have to take their hat of to him.
