Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar/vocal for Green Day)

Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) received slings and arrows from obstinate punk fans when his band Green Day leapt from the underground and onto MTV in 1994. Born on February 17, 1972, in Berkeley, CA, Armstrong is the youngest of six children; his father died from lung cancer when he was only ten. Armstrong formed Sweet Children in 1987 with bassist Mike Dirnt. The group's name became Green Day in 1989, and Al Sobrante (drums) joined the band, eventually replaced by Tre Cool. I think Billie Joe is awesome. Not because he's a good looking guy but because he has a lot of talent behind him. And okay he may not be the best ever guitar player but he's still pretty damn good for the line of music that he's in. He has a beautiful singing voice and his lyrics are awesome! He's one of the few people to stand for something today, something which is rather important.
