Mark Knopfler 5

There may be guys who are technically more proficient than Mark Knopfler - you know the guys I'm talking about - they'll play 38,240 32nd "souless" sterile notes in 4 seconds with ten fingers and 8 toes - but I doubt there's a more tasteful guitarist on the planet. And for those pinheads who claim he's boring or nothing more than a rhythm player at best, give the outro solo to Speedway At Nazereth a listen and then come back and tell me he's a "boring" player. I once read an interview where Mark's good friend - Eric Clapton - actually admitted to feeling "intimidated" every time he took the stage with Knopfler. That comment sums up how good this guy is and how respected he is by other players.

He has good timing and everything but he's way to slow to be considered the best guitarist around. Don't you think or am I missing something?

Not sure I understand what 38,240 32nd refers to. When you say souless you must be referring to Eric Clapton. Listening to Clapton is like eating "Wonder Bread". I guess everybody likes wonder bread and its the 'best' bread around (because its the most popular), but there is nothing there, is there?

You don't understand what I mean by 38,240 32nd notes..?? Well, you can think about it. But I suspect you're one of these guys who believes the more notes you can play in a nano-second, the better a player you are. I guess if speed were the main criteria, I guy like BB King, for example, who could put most guitarists to shame with just a couple of notes with his trademark vibrato would never have made it..!!
