Eric Clapton 5

You only have to read a few of these reviews to realize that Albert Einstein was DEFINITELY half right when he said that two things were infinite - the universe and stupidity.

Here's a guy who's been around since the early / mid sixties making incredible music with John Mayall's Blues Breakers, Cream and as a solo artist.

Along with the late, great Billy Preston, he's one of only two men to play with the Beatles (guess who's playing guitar on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps").

He's played with Hendrix, Page, Beck and has been acknowledged as one of the blues greats by Buddy Guy, BB King and a host of other great blues artists.

An icon like Dylan has admired this guy for years

In a business where artists are chewed up and spit out in weeks and months, this guys is in his 5th decade - that's 50 years people.

Let me enlighten you pin heads who have given this icon a rating of 3 or less - you don't last 40+ years in the music business unless you're doing something VERY right..!!
And some people here say he's over rated and a mediocre player.

Albert, you were absolutely half right..!

Check this link out, its all about how clapton sucks. Kind of fun. http://www.archive.org/details/ChuckFarnhamDavidBie dny How are milk and clapton alike, they both suck without cream. You enjoy the past, but do us a favor and check out some new guitarist, many some of their talent will register with you? Maybe you will enjoy Steve Vai, he's pretty good (better than clapton at any rate). Here is a song from the Seventh Son Album that show cases his talent "For the Love of God". You know that clapton is the second best guitar player on the song Layla right? Behind D. Allman.

I like how you say that Albert is only half right. Not sure I quite understand what you mean, is he half right about the universe, or maybe his theory of realtivity is bunk. Check out this link to this San Fransico radio station. These two guys Chuck and Dave, it's very cool, clapton sucks they say. http://www.archive.org/details/ChuckFarnhamDavidBie dny

Like I said, Clapton's now into his 5th decade - he's played on Beatles albums - he's admired and revered by great players around the world (check out the Crossroads DVD and hear the comments from GREAT players who were honoured to be asked to play it by Clapton). Steve Vai - Clapton MIGHT allow the guy to change his guitar strings.!! Don't confuse the ability to play alot of notes fast with talent..!! There are thousands of guys on the planet who can play fast driving cabs when they're not playing in clubs / bands.

I just saw went to the youtube link - and managed to watch about 2 seconds of it before closing it down. Yeah - the kid can play fast - in the two seconds I watched it, I heard hundreds of boring "souless" notes being played. One of the responders on YouTUBE said he'd be more impressed if the kid played a slow blues solo. I would too. My guess is that there's hundreds / thousands of kids sitting in rooms around the world thinking "gee, that kid played 1,241 notes in 2 seconds - if I can somehow learn to play 1, 242 notes in 2 seconds, then I'll be better". They just don't have a clue - but then they're kids. They're allowed to have "naive, childlike" opinions..!!

Lert's see, we have a quote from a couple of DJ's who I've never heard of saying he sucks. And we have this quotes from Jimi Hendrix, for example: Hendrix:"There is no best guitarist. Gee, I wonder whose opinion carries more weight..!!!

I always say that clapton is the second best guitarist on the song layla behind duane allman. Dont you agree?

Steve vai has more talent than clapton, there is no question about it. However most people like clapton's song more, he has greater exposure and wider appeal, and therefore more popularity. I have been noticing that his rating has declined since I have started going to this site. It's nice to see someone with more talent to take over, Van Halen is an excellent pick for the leader for best rock guitarist. He's better than clapton also.

I don't get why the lawrence family left you 5 comments on the same review at seemingly completely random times? I liked your review. Clapton is the best of all time. Saw him in April, and will again in July.
