Wal-Mart Super Tech Motor Oil 4

Wrong! Supertech oil is made by Warren Petroleum...They also make Kendall oils I believe. This oil will not cause any problems in a well-maintained engine. No, it doesn't cause sludge; sludge is an engine design flaw exasperated by lower-grade oil and poor filters(Frams are the worst, btw)...
For 3k miles, Supertech oil is fine, and the Supertech filters at Walmart are made by Champion, who also makes the Mobil 1 filters. Much better than the Fram orange cans of death!

Supertech synthetic oil is a Grp III oil with a relatively weak additive package, has been shown to be good up until about 5000 mi. in most engines.

Wrong! the correct word is "exacerbated", not "exasperated". But I do agree that: it is a Group III petroleum base-stock synthetic and not Group IV, therefore not fully synthetic (it is open to debate as to whether 'pure' synthetic is truly better, since quality of lubrication is significantly dependent upon the additive package), the additive package is weaker in SuperTech synthetic oil, and that Fram oil filters are hit-or-miss in terms of reliability. Several years ago, after Fram switched manufacturing plants, it was noticed that the weld spots on Fram motorcycle filters were weaker and there were less welds. Then, several Fram filters exploded (they were mostly Honda 600F2's from what i remember) during AMA track racing events. The filters were safety wired, but oil still leaked all over the track with expected results.
