On November 18, 2003, The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that gay couples are legally entitled to get married under the state's constitution, overturning a ban on same-sex marriage. President Bush has spoken out against gay marriage, and the issue figures to be important in the 2004 presidential election.

  I agree with Loerke on two points here: 1) I too am tired of hearing and arguing about this topic. 2) I don't see this as a religious issue. If one's particular religion condemns it, then so be it; but I agree with Loerke and those who disagree with me- public policy should not be made where such policies are derived directly from a particular religion. It is true, we are not a theocracy.

My final word then is this: Loerke and others don't want any "firebrand" religion or perceived morality based on religion forced upon them. Likewise, the majority of the American people have shown repeatedly that they don't want "gay marriage" forced upon them. Let's be consistent.

Completely agree that this issue is getting worn out. But I don't see why how gays and lesbians would be forcing anything on anyone. It's not like I'd be forced to marry another guy. I wish some of my friends would drop their girlfriends, but I never feel that they're forcing their relationships on me. As to popular opinion, democratic majorities have been wrong on a heck of a lot of things, and protecting the rights of minorities were among our founders' primary goals. Anyway, that's it on the topic for me.

I am sorry to tell you but the hate and misunderstanding of "gay" people is the reflection of religion...enough said!
