The New Jersey Nets got their start in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans - one of the the original members of the 11 team ABA. Led by Julius "Dr. J" Erving, the then New York Nets went on to win the ABA title in 1973-74 and 1975-76. In 1976, both the ABA and the Nets were absorbed by the NBA. The New Jersey Nets play their home games at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, NJ.
