Jimi Hendrix 5

Seems that this guitar-rating thing has come down to Hendrix vs. Van Halen, live on Pay Per View. I was a big Van Halen fan, but....sorry....gotta go with Hendrix here. He was an innovator who inspired a whole new sub-genre of music. The same cannot be said for Ed.

Update: Welcome back Chris. That said, once and for all...Eddie Van Halen, while a decent guitar player, is not fit to wash out the headband of Jimmy Hendrix.
Funny that Hendrix has been called perhaps the best of all time by the likes of Prince, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck (to name just three)
Anyway, glad we are back to something important here.

Jimi would have been the best of all-time if it weren't for a thousand other guitarists.

Can you explain, specifically what this "new sb-genre" of music is and what it is called?

Chris...hope you don't mind the fact that I have taken nearly two years to answer. The term "Heavy Metal" was first applied to Hendrix. As irishgit pointed out, you are not really rating Hendrix here- you simply hate him because most people think he is better than Beat It Jackson Van Halen.

Must be too early to rate anything....even the trolls are still sleeping.

He can't hear you, the music is turned up to 11 and he's listening to Eddie's finest moment on vinyl - Dance the Night Away.

Thought that was "Beat It".
