Animal testing for cosmetics

reviewed by puppyloverkb

Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments. In this case, it is for the purpose of testing certain cosmetic substances to determine their effect on humans.

Animal testing for cosmetics 1

In response to Genghisthehun, yes I use shampoo, but I always check the label to make sure the product was not tested on animals. I would much rather have the companies test their products on humans...after all we are the ones using them! And in response to Lightfinger2000, comparing a dog to a cockoach is a little outragous! Yes, i step on cockroaches and i sure as hell will kill a black widow if I see one but how anyone can condone locking a dog in a cage and only taking it out to plaster makeup all over it is beyond me! Yes, we were given "dominion" over dogs, but with that comes respecting that dominance as well. Parents are given dominence over their kids but you don't see anyone condoning child abuse! Dogs have feelings, every day when i come home from work i see the light spark up in my dogs eyes as they jump all over me trying to greet me. It is people with minds like yours that allow this to torture to continue to happen to these animals. It must stop! I leave you with this quote, "The dog has seldom been successful in pulling man up to its level of sagacity, but man has frequently dragged the dog down to his." ~James Thurber

I am sorry I implied that insects, and mice were comparable to dogs.I meant they were comparable to any animal.Choosing one over the other is a question of semantics, which you have indicated by admitting dogs were more viable than some other specimens.I am sure alot of mice lovers and ant farm owners would contest your view point.

Sorry Lightfingers, but when I see mice eating there babies, I have little sympothy for them. The fact is, that cosmetic testing is not done on ants or cockroaches and that humans would be much better test subjects than dogs. After all, we are the ones using the product. Its the same as if we were to have taste tests for dog food and have human be the testers, were not eating it so we shouldn't have to try it. Dogs should not be kept in cages only to be taken out to have makeup plastered all over them. I would not wish that on any animal. You cannot compare animal testing in cosmetics to dogs or insects, because it simply does not occure, insects are not tested for consmetics, mammals are!
