George Martin

Nobody else was as involved with every aspect of their recording career as was George Martin. He taught them how to translate their every musical idea into grooves on the record. Without his gifts in the studio the Beatles would never have gotten past the sonic advances of Rubber Soul.

Well said, Frank. Martin was also a contributor in some ways to earlier recordings. It was he who suggested they speed up a ballad they had written and the results became "Please Please Me" and he also suggested that the catchy "She Loves You Yeah Yeah Yeah" be put at the front of the record.
