Okay.... let me see if I have this straight. My grandfather wanted to be a doctor but his father did not believe in higher education and would not help him financially so grandpa did the next best thing. He became a pharmacist back in the days when you had to mix the various drugs yourself as there were very few prepackaged medicines. To pay for his tuition, grandpa, who was a self taught musician, played piano for the silent movies, gave music lessons, and had a 1920's jazz band which played local night clubs. For 55 years he successfully ran a drug store in Brooklyn, one of the first not on a corner or with a soda fountain. He raised three daughters during the depression and in that time bought his first house and car. He married when he was 19 years old and stayed married to the same woman for 69 1/2 years with no cheating, abuse, or incidents of domestic violence, until he passed away in 1988. (13 years after he left Brooklyn word got back he died and the residents of the neighborhood sent flowers to the wake and funeral)When he finally retired at age 75 he moved to Florida. He joined the local Italian American club where he played piano and also wrote original music for plays and recitals which he produced. But according to the creator of this weblist who never met my grandfather, never had a conversation with him, never shook his hand or looked him in the eye, the creator of this weblist states my grandfather was a fool because he affiliated himself politically with the Conservative wing of the Republican party. If I understand his other posts correctly then my grandfather was also a brainwashed moron because he had a strong belief in God and lived under the guidelines of the Ten Commandments. Have I got that right? Thanks for straightening me out. Just think... for all these many years I thought my grandpa was a smart man, a moral man, a kind and generous man, and a man who understood there is more to life than just going to work and paying the bills. How could I have been so foolish as to not see none of my grandfather's life mattered, he was wrong in everything he did because he made the intellectually fatal mistakes of being a Conservative Republican who believed in God? Okay, I think I got it now..... thanks a lot.
