Why would I give Meijer 1 star. Perhaps because I have been with/around the company for so long. I remember when Mejier was a family based family run company to what it has become today.

I remember when Mejier had FAMILY picnic's arrange by store and warehouse employes.. usually one in each county. It was GREAT. Now.. if you work for the company they do everything they can to get every thing for nothing.

They have gone from having a full grocery staff with at least 6 full time employes on the night shift.. to 4 full time and the rest part time. There was a time when you would find at least 10 people stocking night's in grocery, now your lucky if there are 7. When a person leaves the company they no longer replace them.

Now let's talk about overtime practices. NOW if you are asked to work over time you have to say.. I don't want to stay, BUT if your saying you need me and I must then I will... or you don't recieve time and a half for the over time you work.

Time off practices are very unfair... they have gone to a computerized system.. and to be honest.. MOST of the employe's don't know how it works.. then the managers don't check to see if any request's have been put in... I know this for sure because of someone that has been refused one vacation after another.. simply because the system was never checked. They have also been known to let others with less senoirty take time off before those with more senority... or make up BS rules.. like a week between vacations...

They claim that this is a holiday week, yet, the employe's do not get holiday pay for this Holiday.... so then how can it be a holiday week??

The double standards and the complete disregard for their employe's has been evoloving over the last 22yrs.. and has never been as evident as it is today. Ask a few of the stocking employe's how they really feel.... or if they had a choice would they still be there... I bet the answer is a resounding.. they would rather work any place else!
