Air Force 5

I'm serving in the Air Force Reserve right now, and I have to say that is one of the best experiences of my life. The camaderie is very strong and everyone I know in my unit is hard working and dedicated, with the exception of about two slackers. I don't know about the whole calling officers by their first name. In my entire career, I never addressed an officer by his or her first name. Every branch has their pros and cons. Regardless of whichever branch you choose, make sure it's the right one for you. In my case, I'm glad I made the decision to join the Air Force. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. Go blue!

Only seen it out of the enlisted guys. If my kids had ever called me Mike out in town I'd nutkick 'em. Just the last name is fine off base but on base it was Corporal Whyman or asses got chewed. My buddy is in the Air Force right now so I suppose I gotta be nicer to you guys. At least you're not the Army...

I always addressed both my superiors and subordinates by their rank and last name on duty. Who I spoke with socially, out-of-uniform, off-base, was my business.
