The poultry meal in Blackwood products is a chicken/turkey blend for the broader amino acid profile. There is nothing wrong with it whatsoever. These are good products hense the many good reviews they have gotten.

IF it were chicken/turkey...why don't they put that on the lable....because it is not just chicken and turkey!

It is chicken and turkey. Let me explain this again.... due to AAFCO regulations if a manufacturer purchases their meal already mixed they cannot list is by its individual contents....therefore a meal purchased pre mixed that is a blend of chicken and turkey has to be called "poultry meal" Canidae used to also list their meal like this...till uninformed people started with the "pigeon" nonesense....they now purchase seperate meals amd mix them at the packer.....same thing it is a mix of turkey and chicken meals. I would suggest that anyone who is curious about this call Blackwood themselves, they have a very nice customer service person who is quite informed and pleasent to talk to and can give any information a consumer may want. Blackwood is a small family run company, a family of dog fanciers that designed a food....nto some major business. The products are great and do not deserve to be maligned by other's paranoia and lies.

Well then, why doesn't blackwood purchase seperate meals. Of course the dog food company isn't going to tell you that they are putting road kill in the food. Good heavens, if every dog food company would admit what exactly went into their by-products and animal meals, there would be a lot less pet food companies out there becuase people would never feed their dogs such things. Bottom line, until Blackwood buttons down and actually puts Chicken meal and Turkey Meal on their lable, they can never really proove that there is not road kill in their food.

Puppylover did you seriously accuse Blackwood of putting road kill in their products? They purchase seperate meals because it is less expensive *for the same identical thing* they have no need to overimpress paranoid, delusional people with their ingredient panel. The food is fantastic and a stellar product which is supported by 90% of the reviews left by actual users of this food. Since when does poultry meal translate into "road kill?" That is just over the top.
