Imus in the Morning 2

I'm no fan of Don Imus or his show, and even if I was, it's on to early for me, so if he gets fired it won't mean diddly to me, and I don't condone anything he said. Having said that, I don't think he should be fired because of public outcry for his racially stupid statement "nappy headed hos" in refering to the Rutger University womens basketball team. If people want to stop listening to his show and his ratings drop and the sponsors pull their ads and his show goes off the air, so be it, but to arbitrarily fire the man for a statement seems to infringe upon an individuals right to free speech. It was a lousy thing to say but I don't want to ruin his life because of it. I especially don't understand why everyone that says some racially idiotic remark has to be hauled off in front of Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, given their own penchant for equally degrading racial remarks toward whites. I don't know that Imus has made a habit of making racially charged statements, his apology should be taken at face value. Who hasn't said something stupid? Update: I just heard that Imus has been suspended, but somehow that is not enough. One thing that really seems unfair to me is when I see African American comedians ridicule white people ad nauseam in their comic routines, especially country music stars and fans. As a Mexican American, I don't like it when George Lopez and Paul Rodriguez do it either. It seems what is good for the geese should be good for the gander. In other words don't dish it out if you can't take it. If you want to end racism it has to be across the board, no exceptions, period!
