Jethro Tull

Jethro Tull was a unique phenomenon in popular music history. Their mix of hard rock; folk melodies; blues licks; surreal, impossibly dense lyrics; and overall profundity defied easy analysis, but that didn't dissuade fans from giving them 11 gold and five platinum albums. At the same time, critics rarely took them seriously, and they were off the cutting edge of popular music since the end of the 1970s. Tull dared to be different, and they were. From the talented mind of Ian Anderson they created some very interesting and very complex music, even though it was mostly presented as tongue in cheek. They created their own genre, changed the way we percieved hard rock, and placed a flute at the forefront of the stage when all the other bands were breaking guitar strings. Yes, this group should be in the Hall of Fame!!!
