After the New York Times the Washington Post is my paper of choice. Well written and well put together and dealing with solid news issues, a no nonsense paper. I used to like to pick up the Washington Times on the way to work and then a guy who used to sit next to me would bring the Post and we'd swap during the day to sort of read both sides of the news.
