
The Red Sox franchise has been in Boston since its birth in 1901 when they were known as the Boston Somersets. They changed their name to the Pilgrims in 1903 and then to the Red Sox in 1907. The franchise has won six World Series championships, most recently in 2004. An AL East team, the Red Sox have played their home games at Fenway Park in Boston, MA since 1912. Red Sox in the National Baseball Hall of Fame include Joe Cronin, Jimmie Foxx, Ted Williams, and Carl Yastrzemski.
