While I'm sure it's a pretty big deal to the family whose house has a new skylight thanks to this (and understandably so), and it's pretty interesting in the astronomy community, in the grand scheme of things it ranks low on the list. The Quadrantids are one of many meteor showers that occur on a regular basis. We're just pretty lucky that we don't get too many close encounters like that!
