Hunting 5

It's true our ancestors did hunt for food. Hunting for food now is totally unneccessary unless you live no where near civilization! Take a look at the meat section of the supermarkets! Wake up!! As for saying hunting is a sport, your saying murder is a sport. Plus to be a sport don't you have to have equal sides etc...humans are making animals extinct...Give me a gun and I'll be on the animals side shooting all the sporting hunters! It's only fair.

You need to look at who really cares about animals. Big corporations, governments, and people who want neat little suburban houses on every corner of the world are killing a lot more animals than "sport" hunters simply by destroying their habitat. Real hunters believe in conservation and protection of animals and their natural habitat, and actually put our money where our mouths are. If you don't believe me, study it a bit online, and you will see what the truth is. Take white-tailed deer for example. There are simply more of them than the habitat will ever support, and many starve to death each winter. Hunting spares those animals that suffering, and provide more food for the other animals.

I am aware that the meat in the supermarket has been killed already, infact, that is my point, the MASS killing of animals. It is true that "Big corporations, governments, and people who want neat little suburban houses on every corner of the world are killing a lot more animals than 'sport' hunters simply by destroying their habitat" I dont support these contributing factors either but getting back to the topic reviewed, 'Hunting', why add to those numbers? I understand that unfortunately it is difficult to find meat that doesn't "contain the chemical poisons like steroids or antibiotics that are injected into slaughter-house animals" but it's not impossible. Food labeled Organic is held to much stricter standards, no hormones, steroids, antibiotics or any other chemical in either the animal or its food. The label All Natural is not federally regulated so it can mean absolutely nothing. I did search the web as suggested for pro's and con's of hunting and these are the sites I found.. Regarding deer this site suggests a more humane way of controlling deer population: http://www.downbound.com/Hunting_s/482.htm Then for the extra stress it is putting on polar bears; http://www.hsus.org/press_and_publications/press_re leases/groups_urge_congress_protect_polar_bears.htm l General issues with sport hunting http://www.animalsvoice.com/PAGES/writes/editorial/ essays/hunting/oppose_hunting.html Worth a read as your responses to hunting are mentioned in this site; http://animalliberationfront.com/Practical/Fishing--Hunting/Hunting/FallacyofSportHunting.htm Site includes global affects of hunting animals and other contributing factors; http://www.globalissues.org/EnvIssues/Nature.asp It seems that through searching the internet hunters try to come up with every excuse.

To hunt the hunters is a very poor philosophy. In some parts of the country your career would be remarkably short!

If God didn't want Man to eat meat, why did he make animals out of it? [Old joke, sorry]

Haha.. I agree that meat is an important part of our diets. I'm not implying the world turn vegetarian. Also I agree that 2 wrongs don't make a right. My hunting the hunters comment was to illustrate a point. The point being that it is not fair play. Especially when you bear in mind more humane approaches to conservation that are surfacing these days. If you allow your prospective to adjust slightly you will find with blinding clarity that animals are attacked from all fronts, hunters are attacked on one, that is the request to drop hunting as a sport. You've got it good actually. It's really a case of letting the cave man grow into a man/woman. It's a primitive outlook to believe you have the right to take a life for sport instead of just for survival, which is what this activity of hunting was initially designed for. I realise that SOME born and bred sport hunters find this view very difficult to get their heads around as it suggests their hunting lifestyles have been led under false pretense. This is not a go at your ancestors this is dealing with the NOW. By putting an end to hunting that is not for survival in this day and age, this planet bears a better chance of gaining equilibrium. It's time to get WISE.
