The extremists in the Christian realm, to me, would be the legalists
who are very strict when it comes to certain issues, and many thinking
only their way is right. Examples of this are the Apostolic (and
the like) churches that think it's a sin if a woman wears pants, cuts
her hair, or wears make up. They don't allow jewelry (except for
maybe wristwatches), and many believe a TV has no business in a
Christian home. I also know of a remote group in Texas who not
only hold similar views to the Apostolics, but carry it even further
claiming that contemporary worship choruses are of the devil; they also
think it's a sin if one surfs the Internet, interracially marries, or
reads other Bible versions besides the King James Version. Other
examples of man-made (non-Biblical) restrictions in different Christian
sects include the eating of meat and the use of playing cards. The list of these type of issues can go on and on.
It's okay if any of the above views are personal convictions. However, a person who has a certain conviction should never view
themselves as "holier" than those who don't hold the same views.
As for me, I go solely on the Bible. It's not that rigid.
