Colder climates need 5w-30 due to faster lubricate upper engine. 10w-30 works well in mid to warm climates adding heavy oils always takes longer to flow to vital areas of the engine at start up and should never be used in colder climates. Additives are not needed for engines my opinion is they dont work and engine problems will not go away by using them regular maintenance is essential part of engine life.
