Verizon Chocolate Phone
1
7/5/07: "Cute", but "cute" doesn't necessarily make a good phone. I just wanted something that works as a cell phone and music player all in one, and I didn't want a Razr since everyone else had one and I can't stand 'em. So, I went with the Chocolate.
It works well as a mp3 player (have almost 200 songs so far on the 1GB chip that I bought with it), but as a phone it can be really annoying. It appears that the touch-pad is uber-sensitive: Over the several months that I've had it, it has the recurring problem of calling people when I don't want it to. I'll be on the treadmill, joggging away and listening to the mp3 player, while the phone is in the locked position in the cupholder. Suddenly, though nothing is touching it, the music will stop with a *beep*, then a second *beep*, then it starts ringing: I've called my mom at 11pm twice accidentally (and once after midnight) because of it (and she's not entirely too appreciative of it)! It also happens when I'm listening to it during lunchtime and it's just sitting out on the table on my bag . . . when there's nothing near it. It's really irritating to have to fumble for it so that it doesn't call my mother-in-law (which happened once).
Second problem: my phone freezes upon startup! Outside of the annoying little start-screen, it will freeze if I don't pop the memory chip out of it first.
Everyone loves my phone and all, but it's not worth the hype. Next time, I won't be such a damn cheapskate and I'll get a phone and a mp3 player . . . separately. I'd rather get two things that work well than one thing that does both jobs, but does one of them really badly.

11/19/07: Dropping some more complaints and another star on this one. I'll try to abbreviate the problem:
1) Husband's computer has the music on it. Doesn't make sense to transfer all music onto my computer.
2) Husband "upgraded" (haha) to Windows Vista. Seems that Vista & XP have some compatibility issues on such things as sharing files. So no new music for me. : (
3) BUT WAIT! I have a new laptop with Vista on it. Let's try that.
4) Now I can access music. Good. Now need drivers to make my phone sync up. Put in CD.
5) CD with drivers agrees with me that Vista sucks, and it won't load the drivers on there for me.
6) I go online to see if there are updated drivers available online. The consensus for the solution: "Sucks to be you".
Guess I'll be loading the drivers on my husband's computer after all. Oh, wait, now we're back to the "Vista Sucks" problem, nevermind.
Lesson Learned: Next time I buy a cell phone, I'm buying the cheapest, simplest cell phone out there, and I'll spend my money on a damn iPod. And though it'll kill me, I'll see about investing in getting a damn Mac next time, too.
