Air France 1

We had to arrange for our own delivery of bags through federal express because they expected us to wait 5 days and pay for it.

If you, as a passenger, spend thousands of dollars on a plane ticket...show up to the counter and have excessively heavy bags and are told you have to pay to take them, then YOU are at fault because you did not prepare for your trip. Air France's weight limits and regulations are posted on their website as well as on signs as you enter the line at check in. So being uninformed is not the fault of Air France, it is the fault of your own. Air France can not legally make someone pay for bags that are below the weight limits. So obviously your bags were either overweight or you had too many of them. Keep in mind that Air France is a passenger airline, not a cargo plane. The baggage hold is for luggage, not your overweight bag. Maybe Fed Ex was the best option for you.
