Citibank 1

It is my belief that Citibank is to blame for a large majority of credit card debt. I am not ignoring personal responsibility but Citibank blantly baits and traps consumers. They widley market credit cards with high spending caps and high interest to anyone and everyone, with a primary focus on poor college students. Even those with the best of intentions ("I will only use the card in case of emergency, only for gas, etc.") can be driven to debt by the marketing tactics employed by this company. Citibank keeps 'customers' for life by holding them down in a 'self-created' debt. I know first hand how difficult this company makes it to get back in the black. They charge outrageously large late fees for payments that are so much as a day late and their customer service representatives do the absolute minimum to assist customers. It is for these reasons (& more that have gone unlisted for the sake of space) that I will soon triumphantly cancel my Citibank card and -never- open another account with this company again. It is clear Citibank's only concern is a fat bottom line rather then the growing national credit card debt crisis that exists in this country. Wishing all concerned consumers safe spending!

Seems to me it's not Citibank's fault, it's the fault of the cardholder who fails to do sufficient research on different credit cards before signing up for one.
