I've lived in: New York, Virginia, Colorado, Kentucky, South Carolina and North Carolina - I've also travelled through 33 states, spending considerable time in about 12. North Carolina is by far the nicest place I've been. If you are in central NC, you are 2-3 hours from the ocean (with the beach that was named #1 beach in the US this year), 2-3 hours from the mountains (the oldest range, with the most diversity of species of any area in the US), and weekend trips to many major hotspots (DC, FL, TN) are possible. NC Cities are the most progressive cities on the east coast, cost of living is fairly low compared to the payscale, I could go on and on.
