University of Maryland-University College 3

I have been a UMUC student for 2.5 years now. I started my education at a main stream college and then kind of lost my way. I have had some great educational experiences here at UMUC. My main complaint with UMUC is the disorganization among their administration. I live in MD! I should be able to get a hold of someone to give me a straight answer on what classes I need to take in order to graduate. I have been told several times now several different things concerning what I need in order to graduate. I was supposed to be done May of this year, and then I found out I needed 12 more credits. I then went to work trying to complete these credits over the Summer. I thought I would be done on August 18th of this year. I found out this morning that I need yet another class. I am supposed to start Graduate school this Fall (not at UMUC). If I am not done with my classes by August then I have to defer for a year! I have already paid a nonrefundable acceptance fee to this graduate school. Moreover, I just want to be done with my undergraduate degree. I will have enough (120) credits by the end of the Summer. How can these people just lie to adults about their futures???

Now...here's a thought. You might want to consult a little book called "College Catalog."

I have a piece of advice for you: CHECK YOUR EVALUATION VERY CAREFULLY AND COMPARE IT AGAINST YOUR OWN RECORDS. I am a UMUC student with four classes left until I get my degree. I recently had an "official evaluation" of my transfer credits and according to UMUC, I had 9 classes left before I could receive my degree. To make a long story short, UMUC has tried to cheat me out of 14 credits. It took me hours to figure out why their records were different from mine and here are a few things I discovered: 1. One of my classes was a four-credit class. On my evaluation, they had it listed as a two-credit class, cheating me out of two credits. My prior evaluation listed it as a four-credit course now suddently four became two. How strange. 2. Two of my six-credit classes they listed as three-credit classes. There's another six credits gone. 3. Two classes that I had previously received credit for (they were listed on my prior evaluation) were now missing from the new evaluation. That's six more credits lost. In addition to all of this, they do not apply the classes to the correct categories. In many cases on my evaluation, they put the classes for my major under "Electives" and then indicated I needed to take more classes to complete my major. It took them three months to do this evaluation. I am so upset that I'm thinking about contacting a news station to see if they will investigate. If this has happened to me, it has probably happened to other students, as well. That may be what happened to you! Check your records. In the meantime, if anyone knows the proper authorities to complain to, please let me know! 3.
