State Farm

Letter to State Farm authorities 7/17/2007:
Although my family and I have moved within the state of Michigan over five times since 1987, we have remained loyal to the Tom Rossi Agency, State Farm Insurance in Portage, MI. For twenty years I have paid our premiums in full and on time. What I at once thought was a competent agency has let me down.
Yesterday I received a Notice of NonRenewal from State Farm Insurance letting us know that as of 9/18/07 they will no longer cover my car. This is due to the fact that in the past 3 years the combined [State Farm] points I have accumulated puts me over the threshold of insurability.
My violations consist of two minor accidents on or near my own property where no one was injured and three speeding tickets over the past 3 years. But that does not regard the issue at hand.
What I found out today is that in the state of Michigan, if you have two accidents within a three-year period you automatically become uninsurable within mutual auto policies.
THIS INFORMATION WOULD HAVE BEEN VALUABLE TO ME BEFORE PLACING MY LAST CLAIM. TOM ROSSI, OUR AGENT, GAVE NO SUCH COURTESY IN LETTING ME KNOW WHAT THE END RESULT WOULD BE OF THAT CLAIM.
To my knowledge, State Farm has never raised our rates due to the aforetime mentioned traffic incidents. There was no warning or courtesy call as to this past action. You would think that as a loyal policyholder I would have received the simple courtesy of a phone call informing me that another accident claim would make me uninsurable.
I believe Tom Rossi is an incompetent agent and can in NO WAY be thought of as a good neighbor. My good neighbors would never treat me that way. Come to think of it- even my not-so-good neighbors would not treat me this poorly.
State Farm is a company that clearly does not value my business even though I have shown loyalty for twenty years with all our homes and vehicles.
