BenzaClin 4

I just started using Benzaclin yesterday. I tried Proactive for about a week (a month ago) and the red burning skin and little bumps that it caused had me stopping the use ASAP. So I went to a dermo and he gave me the Rx for Benzaclin. For whatever reason he was very fast with me and didn't go over side effects or really discuss it at all. When I got home and read that it can bleach your hair and/or clothing I was so upset. I put it on last night, let it dry, then put on moisturizer and was terrified that I would wake up today with a tye-dyed pillow case. It doesn't seem to have bleached it and I did the same this morning and my shirt didn't get bleached but I'm still concerned. I have auburn hair and if I get it in my hairline and my eyebrows..YIKES...I don't want them to end up blonde. Has ANYONE had a problem with the "bleaching" side effect of this? Not knowing is almost enough to make me not want to even continue using it..someone help.

Benzaclin isn't strong enough to bleach your hair. I haven't had it bleach my pillow, but I think that it could. My brother uses it and when he sweats it bleaches the colars of his shirts, and when I put it on my back, it bleaches my shirts.

I've been using Benzaclin since August of this year. I tried Proactiv a few summers ago and it broke my face out worse than it was before use. So far, I only have one complaint concerning Benzaclin, I can't really stand that it gives my face a dull appearance but I try to exfoliate with an exfoliating pad using the Benziq wash that I was also prescribed. If I were you I would definitely change from using Benzaclin at night because it does seem to bleach clothing and I think the bleaching may be activated by sweat. When I was taking classes this past summer and was sitting in my car with the windows down (b/c gas prices were so high no one wanted to turn on their AC and risk burning up their gas) I did notice after washing and drying the shirts that were worn on those days, they were bleached (I use Benzaclin on my upper arms, chest and top of my back). I would definitely use some other type of treatment (for me, I use Ziana, in my opinion, seems to do a better job than the benzalin - I used this first before the pharmacy at Kaiser could obtain the prescription for Benzaclin, this took about 2 weeks and it seemed to give the same effects as Benzaclin, minus the dullness) in the evenings. I've never tried Benzaclin overnight, partly because I was not prescribed to do so and because I sweat at night, no matter the temperature, and I definitely don't want to ruin my good bedsheets. So far, this seems to be a good product, I've been "battling" acne for the past 12+ years. Just keep up with a daily regimen.
