Arctic Cat 400i/500i 1

Bought my son a 2005 arctic cat 400 brand new its a junker. Constantly having problems with this machine universal joints every 6 months, leaking shocks, bad oil temp sensor, bushings and rear end bearingsand seals, oil cooler fan. 2 years old and its junk in shop more then driven and towed by my 1990 honda 300fwd more then once DONT BY A ARCTIC CAT waste of your earned dollars. Ground clearance is all they have but what good is it if you cant run it????? ARCT CAT needs to go back to the drawing board with the ATV line. The little Chinese machine I bought my 7 year old is a better machine.I have tried to talk with a arctic cat rep refusal to even talk about the problems with this machine. Attorney generals office is next. Any buddy else out there with arctic scrap.

I have an 01 500i with 750 miles on it. took it out and the starter would not engage. Took it to the dealer (where I bought it, along with the 3-yr extended warranty)and they took it part. The inside of the engine housing was shattered where the idler gear and one-way crank gear are supported between the engine housing and the magneto cover. Estimate was for $3,200.00!!!!Dealer contacted A/C and after 3 discussions, they finally agreed to send the engine housing and cover (about $1,400.00 worth of parts) but, they would not send the gaskets, seals, bearings and rings required to complete the repair (engine must be completely dis-assembled and re-assembled)or pay for the labor (looking at an additional $1,600.00) I am waiting on the parts to be installed. Then I am calling the rep. myself. If they do not agree to cover the costs, I along with the bike and photos will be back at the Ducks Unlimited ralley in Memphis TN. (where I bought the P.O.S) this year to show all my fellow members what a real piece of "scrap" looks like and how A/C stands behind their product! I failed to mention that my local dealer has seen (2) others with the identical problem on the same year and size bike. How many around the country do you think there is? A/C has yet to put out a recall. With this being a Suzuki motor, you would think they would side with the customer and take the fight to Suzuki. The worst part is, I was ready to buy a Honda until I was convinced by the rep at the ralley to buy the A/C. All I can say at this point is beware. an Arctic Cat is just a "polecat" in discuise. My Cat's high gear slips out and GRINDS until the revs drop enuf for it to slip back in. Would prolly qualify as a funny sound if owned by a friend. But, it's my sounds, and never feels funny to me when it happens. (It never happens with my car; why my Cat?) That one thing is why I did not rate my Cat five stars. My cat is a tool; not a toy! Without a tool like it, I would be funned trying to handle my homestead!
