These are not only strange looking to me but I often find myself wondering whatever inspired it in the first place. Gigantic, cement baskets apparently meant to be gigantic pots for flowers but often just stand alone, unadorned in the middle of someone's yard. Huh? Just what would make someone suddenly decide the need for this? And, once placed (which must be quite a feat in itself) why would you simply just let it sit there? Is it some kind of philosophical statement about the emptiness of life in general or suburbia specifically? Or, was the concept for the film Honey I Shrunk the Kids or the old TV show Land of the Giants something someone (presumably the designer of said gigantic basket) just couldn't get out of his/her mind? I will no doubt ponder this to some degree each time I see this odd addition to the world of lawn art or artifacts. I just hope I never come to understand it.
