Air Force 5

Has anyone else had this experience? My nephew signed up with the Air Force and just completed boot camp. He wants to learn jet engine repair. They sent him to an Army base instead  in Missouri and his first job is to learn to drive huge trucks, etc. This kid is quite intellegent, definately mechanically inclined and we were dumbfounded to hear this. He is not happy as he was expecting to be sent elsewhere to start mechanic training and to be at an Air Force base. He has learned from some that the Army needs recuits and since kids have been signing up with the other branches instead of choosing army, the army is taking those recruites. So where is the honesty and integrity when they downright lie to these kids when they sign up???? Unless he finds out soon that he will eventually get the training he chose in the first place, I may just have to pass this info along as a warning to other young men and women who may wish to join the military.

Recuiters lie, but they can't move people across branches like that, so this kids is likely just freaking out because whatever job he has makes him drive a truck. I did three months of training on an Army base and I never left the Marines. Cross training on other services facilities is pretty common, really. Unless he gets permanent orders and a new set of uniforms I wouldn't worry, and since that's not allowed to my knowlege, there really isn't anything to talk about.
