I'm not sure why I didn't rate this one when I first put it up, maybe I was in a hurry that day, but this quote crossed my mind recently during a conversation with an idiot. The more I think about it, the more frightening it is that this quote came from a U.S. president.

And it still amazes me.

Update: It's been so long since I started this list I don't remember the original source, but I know someone that says they have it on a VHS tape. Since some people are suddenly getting their panties in a bunch I'll see if I can get hold of them and try to get the video. He's said pretty much the same thing in not so many words, so it's not unbelievable that it's true.

It's especially frightening because Clinton followed through by militarizing America's local police departments.

I don't think this is a left or right philosophy. It is a common philosophy of those in power, regardless of ideology.

Can be. Just a scary philosophy, and the fact that he said it during a speech and there was hardly even a flinch makes it that much more scary.

At the time I wrote the above comments, this 'quote' hadn't been exposed as a fraud.

However, there's no doubt in my mind that Bill Clinton - like most mainstream politicians in the 21st century - favors curtailment of constitutional liberties. He proved it with his militarization of our local police forces.
